Lokayukta conduct raids on properties linked to Asst Drug Controller, seizes assets worth Rs 3.37 crore

Mangaluru: Officials of the Karnataka Lokayukta conducted raids on Tuesday on the office, residences and properties linked to Assistant Drug Controller Babu B N of the Regional Deputy Drugs Controller’s Office in Mangaluru, on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. During the searches, assets worth Rs 3.37 crore were detected.

According to Lokayukta police, searches were carried out at Babu’s house and commercial shops in Bagepalli town of Chikkaballapur district, his houses and flat in Bengaluru, his residence in Mangaluru, and his office premises.

During the raids, officials found movable and immovable assets worth a total of Rs 3.37 crore. Movable assets valued at Rs 23.64 lakh, comprising cash, gold and silver ornaments, were found from his residence in Bengaluru, Lokayukta police said.

The action followed credible information received at the Lokayukta Police Station in Mangaluru alleging that Babu possessed assets beyond his known sources of income.

Based on a report submitted by Police Inspector Chandrashekhar KN, a case was registered at the Karnataka Lokayukta Police Station in Mangaluru under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Babu B N.

Following which, a raid was conducted at multiple locations under the guidance of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police BP Dinesh Kumar of Dakshina Kannada district.

Lokayukta DySPs Gana P Kumar and Suresh Kumar, along with Police Inspectors Manjunath, Bharati G, Shivaraj Kumar, Rajendra Nayak and other staff, participated in the operation.
