<p>Mangaluru: A man who was acquitted in the trial court for transporting ganja, was sentenced in the appellate court on Thursday.</p><p>The convicted is Salahuddeen from Kiltan Island in <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/search?q=lakshadweep">Lakshadweep</a>. During a search operation in a vessel, the Mangaluru Coastal Security Police (CSP) found 100 grams of ganja in the bag belonging to Salahuddeen on January 30, 2020. The prosecution appealed against the acquittal in the Additional District and Session Court, and the appeal came up before the fast track court (FTSC-1). </p><p>After the hearing, the fast track court held Salahuddeen guilty and cancelled the judgment of the lower court.</p><p>Justice Mohana J S sentenced Salahuddeen to six months of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act. Public Prosecutor K Badrinath Nairy argued on behalf of the prosecution.</p>
