Meena said it had come to his knowledge that several officers were not residing at the district headquarters and he would put an end to the practice. <br /><br />“I will reside with my family at the district headquarters. I have done so at all my postings,” he said. Officers choose to reside at other places even though official quarters is available in Tumkur. There are several reasons for such a practice, he noted.<br /><br />Meena said he was aware of the acute drinking water shortage problem in the district and would put his experience in tackling similar problem in Sira and Pavagad taluks of Tumkur district into use.<br /><br />A comprehensive approach can be arrived at after a thorough study of the problem. <br />While there is no dearth of funds to take up development projects, attention would be given on effective application of public money.<br /><br />Cooperation sought<br /><br /> Remarkable changes could be brought only with the cooperation of public, elected representatives, officials and the media, he said and sought cooperation from all sections of society, he said.<br /><br />Hailing from Rajasthan, 37-year-old Meena is a 2003 batch IAS officer and holds MA in philosophy. He has been serving in Karnataka for the past ten years. Meena functioned as Assistant Commissioner at Yadagir, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer in Tumkur, Deputy Commissioner of Chamarajnagar and Additional Commissioner for Commercial Tax Department. <br /><br />His previous assignment was as Deputy Commissioner at Bagalkot. He was transferred to Kolar on November 18.<br /><br />In-charge municipal commissioner Niloufer Syeda Jabin and other officers welcomed the newly-posted incumbent.<br /></p>
