<p>A mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour at Agrahara street in Ambedkar Colony in the town on Thursday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The suspect, Nagaraj, 25, assaulted the girl when the victim was alone in the house. Her father Venkateshappa and her brother, both daily wagers, had been to work when the incident occurred. The girl’s grandmother had been to the market to sell vegetables.<br /><br />Nagaraj was caught by passersby when he was fleeing from the place after the incident and was handed over to the police. The suspect was involved in a number of cases in the past, the police said. <br /><br />In another incident, a youth was caught by the public while he was attempting to rape a girl, when she was grazing goats near the Kolaramma tank in Kolar on Thursday. <br /><br />The suspect, Muniyappa, tried to assault the girl sexually, at around 12.30 am. The victim is a resident of Ambedkar Nagar. Muniyappa was handed over to the police. The police have registered a case.<br /></p>
