<p>Mangaluru: Due to gusty winds and heavy rainfall, a total of 10,583 electricity poles and transformers were damaged within MESCOM’s jurisdiction, resulting in losses exceeding Rs 16.45 crore.</p><p>The most significant damage occurred between April and June 15 in Dakshina Kannada and Chikkamagaluru districts. In Dakshina Kannada alone, damages are estimated at Rs 6.91 crore, while Chikkamagaluru reported losses worth Rs 3.85 crore.</p><p>Udupi district recorded losses of Rs 3.73 crore, and MESCOM assets worth Rs 1.95 crore were damaged in Shivamogga.</p><p>Most of the damaged poles, transformers, and electricity lines have been replaced or repaired, and power supply has been restored. In some areas, repair and replacement work is still underway, according to a statement from MESCOM.</p><p>Dakshina Kannada recorded the highest number of damaged electricity poles among the four districts under MESCOM. The district reported damage to 4,227 poles. Additionally, 180 transformers were damaged—120 in Dakshina Kannada, six in Udupi, 52 in Shivamogga, and two in Chikkamagaluru. All the damaged transformers have since been repaired or replaced.</p><p>A total of 326.58 kilometres of electricity lines were affected, of which 323 kilometres have been restored, MESCOM stated.</p><p>MESCOM officials and staff have worked tirelessly—despite challenging weather conditions—to restore disrupted power supply, with support from the public. As some repair work is still ongoing, MESCOM has requested continued cooperation from residents.</p><p><strong>Emergency contact numbers</strong></p><p>To ensure quick communication and resolution during critical or emergency situations, MESCOM has introduced two new emergency contact numbers: 8277883388 and 0824-2950953.</p><p>The public is urged to use these numbers only in emergencies.
