MP Brijesh Chowta urges ESIC to take over ESI Hospital in Mangaluru

New Delhi: Dakshina Kannada BJP Lok Sabha member Brijesh Chowta on Friday met Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and urged him to direct the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to assume direct control and management of the ESI Hospital in Mangaluru.

"The ESI Hospital in Mangaluru is a 100-bed facility serving approximately 2.5 lakh insured persons across Dakshina Kannada and adjoining districts. However, the hospital remains severely understaffed, which is severely affecting service delivery," Chowta said in his memorandum.

He emphasised that an early takeover by ESIC is essential to ensure adequate staffing, improved administration, better infrastructure maintenance, and optimal utilisation of the facility — all in line with the objectives of the ESI Scheme.

"The Union Labour Ministry should expedite all necessary approvals at the earliest to enable the swift takeover of the ESI Hospital, Mangaluru, by ESIC in the larger interest of insured beneficiaries and their families," Chowta added.
