<p>The bituminous surface of this road has been washed away in the rains, leaving behind loose mud. The situation has made people face a lot of inconvenience. While men somehow manage to wade their way through this road, women and students are the worst victims.<br /><br />The road comes in Mukkodlu Gram Panchayat limits, which belongs to the Zilla Panchayat Chief Shantheyanda Ravi Kushalappa. About Rs 25 lakh was released for developing Hattihole-Mukkodlu road. The contractor started the work during rainy season. Hillock on one side of the road was excavated to widen the road. The mud was dumped by the contractor on the road. This wise move has led to the existing situation, say the local residents. Seeing the plight of this road, one of the KSRTC buses has stopped operating on this route. This has left the little children in dire straits because they have to now walk their way to Hattihole school (four kms) on this muck road. <br /><br />The entire stretch of road for about three kms is in the same plight. Two-wheelers and four-wheelers, both have to do dare devil acts to across this stretch. <br /><br />High profile village<br /><br />Mukkodlu village in Makkanduru Gram Panchayat limits is not an ordinary village.<br /> The people of this village do not need to stage any protest to get the attention of the authorities concerned for the simple reason that Zilla Panchayat President Kushalappa resides in this village itself. <br /><br />Not only him, former president of Zilla Panchayat Veena Acchaiah, Taluk Panchayat former member Suju Thimmaiah live here. To top it all, the road cuts across the coffee plantation of MLA M P Appachu Ranjan!<br /><br />All these people have to pass through this terrific road everyday for one reason or the other, but yet they have not taken any step to get the road repaired or at least keep it traffic worthy.<br /><br />Reporters called<br /><br />The local residents seeing the inactiveness of the elected representatives, called the journalists to narrate their pangs. <br /><br />The residents informed that though there were four drains, those drains were demolished and construction work of new drains were taken up. <br /><br />“What was the need to do this when the old drains were functioning well,” questioned the residents adding that Rs 1.5 lakh was allotted for each drain.<br /><br />The residents say that they have lost their patient because of the lethargic attitude of elected representatives. <br /><br />They say that if the Hattihole-Hammiyala-Avandi roadroad is not made traffic worthy, they will picket Zilla Panchayat office inorder to draw the attention of the officials.</p>
