<p>Addressing a news conference here on Friday, Vidwan R K Padmanabha, chairman of the Rudrapatnam Sangeetotsava Samithi, said as part of decennial celebrations, there will be a variety of programmes. More than 300 artists would render Pancharatna kirtanas of Saint Thyagaraja along with dance, music and gamaka. Such an experiment is being conducted for the first time in State.<br /><br />He said the renovated Prasanna Rameshwara Swamy temple would be dedicated to people on March 2 along with rituals. The next day is dedicated for the youths to display their talents. <br /><br />A number of budding youngsters would present violin, singing and mandolin concerts. On March 4, the ‘Nirantara Naada Namana’ programme will be held featuring the reputed artists of the State. On March 5, there will be a vocal recital by Vidwan T M Krishna from Chennai followed by teppotsava. This time, they have arranged for ten teppas and there will be saxaphone concerts on them. The artists of Prabhat troupe of Bangalore will be presenting two dance ballets ‘Punyakoti’ and ‘Dharma Bhumi’.<br /><br />Vidwan Padmanabha said on March 6 between 10:30 am and 1 pm, there will be a gamaka sourbha by Dr V Mathur Krishnamurthy and Hosahalli Keshavamurthy. This is followed by the rendition of Pancharatna kirtanas from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. More than 300 artists from all over the State will be singing at a time on the banks of River Cauvery.<br />It is followed by felicitation programme at 6:45 pm. This time, R Subramanya, a patron of Rudrapatna art, will be presented the prestigious ‘Nacharamma’ award. Besides, noted artist, Dr R K Srikantan will also be honoured.<br /><br /> The function will be attended by MLA A Manju, retired judge of Karnataka High Court, R G Vaidyanath, Hosahalli Venkatram, Bhanuprakash and Deccan Cargo Chief Captain Gopinath. At 8 pm, there will be a bharathanatyam programme by Satyanarayana Raju and Sita Kote. <br /><br />He said Rudrapatna is an unique village as it has the distinction of producing more than 60 per cent reputed artists of national and international standard. However, this village did not have good roads and hotels. Need of the hour was to provide basic facilities to the village. This village, despite situated on the banks of River Cauvery, is hit by frequent powercuts. The condition of roads is very bad. A team of experts had visited the village a few months ago to declare it as a ‘heritage village’ , but there is no response from it so far, he added.</p>
