Mysuru DC orders transparent rollout of PM 15-Point Programme benefits

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy directed the officials of all departments concerned to ensure that the benefits and facilities under the Prime Minister’s 15-Point Programme reach eligible minority beneficiaries in a transparent manner.

Chairing a progress review meeting of the programme, at the Zilla Panchayat Hall, in Mysuru, on Thursday, the DC emphasised the need for creating widespread awareness about the welfare schemes offered by the Minority Welfare department and other government bodies. “The selection of the beneficiaries must be transparent, and the officials must strictly adhere to the prescribed criteria, while extending the benefits,” he said.

Regarding the Ashraya housing scheme, the DC noted that the sites are being provided to the landless at the Grama Panchayat level, while houses are being distributed in urban areas. He informed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of houses under Narasimharaja (NR) Assembly constituency has been submitted to the government.

Under the PM SVANidhi scheme, the Mysuru City Corporation has received 30,000 applications from street vendors, and 22,000 of them have already received the benefits, he added.

Grievances

During the meeting, a few committee members raised several local issues, including the need to identify the boundaries of Sri Shantinath Jain Basadi located near Banumaiah College on Sayyaji Rao Road. They urged the District Administration to make Mysuru a drug-free district and called for a crackdown on child labour, citing a higher prevalence in certain pockets of the community.

The members requested that Mudra loan applications should not be rejected based on CIBIL scores and urged the local authorities to intervene to facilitate the loans. Other demands included skill development training for unemployed youth and to use the name of ‘Mahaveer Nagar’ for Halladakeri, with proper signboards.

Committee members Suresh Kumar Jain, Subhanuddin, Fazil, along with District Minority Welfare Officer K Shilpa were present.
