Mysuru Palace set to host annual Ugadi music festival on March 19

The Mysuru Palace Board is all set to host its annual ‘Ugadi Sangeetotsava - Sri Parabhava Samvatsara’ on March 19 on the Mysuru Palace premises at 5.30 pm.

Mysuru District In-charge and Social Welfare Minister H C Mahadevappa will inaugurate the festival, while Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to participate.

Krishnaraja MLA T S Srivathsa will preside over the function, while Animal Husbandry and Sericulture Minister K Venkatesh, HD Kote MLA and Jungle Lodges and Resorts Chairperson C Anil Kumar and CESC Chairman and Srirangapatna MLA A B Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda will participate.

Sound, light show cancelled

In view of the preparations for the music festival, the regular ‘Sound and Light’ show, usually held from 7 pm to 8 pm on the Mysuru Palace premises, has been temporarily cancelled from March 16 to 22.

According to a press release from Deputy Director of the Mysuru Palace Board T S Subramanya, the show will remain suspended until the conclusion of the festivities, to facilitate stage work and rehearsals.
