Narayana Murthy calls upon entrepreneurs to be nation builders at Mysore Entrepreneurship Forum launch

Mysuru: Founder of Infosys N R Narayana Murthy called upon the entrepreneurs to be the builders of modern India.

He was speaking during the launch of the Mysore Entrepreneurship Forum (MEF), formed by Bherunda Foundation, in Mysuru, headed by member of the erstwhile royal family and Mysore-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja (YKC) Wadiyar, in Mysuru, on Friday.

Murthy called upon the entrepreneurial community, to take up the responsibility, for driving India's development, emphasising that their innovative ideas and disciplined execution would form the foundation for economic and social progress.

“The true builders of a nation are not politicians or bureaucrats, but entrepreneurs, who create jobs, wealth, and opportunities and pay taxes for the good of the nation. You can give confidence to the poorest farmer, poorest driver, and poorest worker. Conduct yourself worthy of that trust and ensure that you create a revolution that will transform India,” he stated.

He emphasised that entrepreneurship is the most sustainable solution to poverty. “By creating jobs, entrepreneurs empower individuals, to improve their lives, ensuring a better future for the next generation. Empowering people, with skills and education, is vital, rather than handouts.

“Entrepreneurs must deliver value to their customers - both in business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) markets. An idea’s power lies in its ability to solve problems and deliver value, in a simple and impactful way. Entrepreneurs should benchmark their standards against the best in the world and diversify their market focus. Compete globally and aim for international excellence. Leadership is about setting an example, showing discipline, and ensuring excellence at every level of the organisation," Murthy remarked.

Murthy stressed on the importance of collaboration, encouraging entrepreneurs to assemble teams with complementary skills. “Entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint. A strong, unified team is essential for long-term success. The governments should act as facilitators, rather than direct job-creators. Governments should focus on enabling entrepreneurship, by fostering a conducive environment, reducing bureaucratic hurdles, and supporting innovation. The government’s role is to create mechanisms that make life easier for entrepreneurs, allowing them to generate wealth and jobs," he said.

YKC Wadiyar said, many of his well-wishers caution that Mysuru should no go the Bengaluru way. “But, the Electronic City within Bengaluru, spearheaded by Murthy, is worth emulating,” he said.

“The focus is on realising the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of Vikasit Bharat by 2047. Our objective is a true Vikasit Mysuru city and to make the Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha segment into a model constituency,” he added.
