NEET paper leak: NSUI activists protest outside MP Raghavendra's residence

Shivamogga: Accusing the Centre of failing to conduct NEET systematically and free from malpractices, activists of NSUI attempted to picket the house of MP B Y Raghavendra at Vinobnagar in the city on Wednesday as part of the protest.

Police arrested them but later they were released. Speaking on the occasion, agitating activists said that the Centre has ruined the future of lakhs of students belonging to middle class and poor families by not conducting NEET in a fair manner.

They said the NEET system was implemented in 2012 by the UPA government led by the then prime minister Manmohan Singh with the aim of providing equal opportunities and merit-based admission system in medical education across the country.

"But today the same system is losing its original purpose due to allegations of question paper leakage, coaching mafia, examination irregularities and influence of money. Even in 2024, the question paper leakage controversy regarding NEET UG was heard across the country, but the Centre covered up this issue."

"However, complete confidence among the students has not been restored. The Centre has failed to maintain credibility of the national level examination. We respectfully request the President to immediately dismiss this irresponsible Centre and instill confidence among the students, parents and the public."

On this occasion, the police arrested the District Congress President Prasanna Kumar, Textile Infrastructure Development Corporation President Chethan J Gowda, youth leaders Madhusudan, former opposition leader of the Municipal Corporation Yamuna Range Gowda, Youth Congress District President Harshit Gowda, City President Charan, Rural Presidents Praveen, Abdul Sattar, Malavagoppa Shivu, Akash, Girish, Saqlain, Ashok, Ravi, Vishnu, Babu, Taufik, Manoj, Anant and hundreds of youths who tried to picket the MP's house.
