Shivamogga: National Educational Technology Forum Chairman Anil D Sahasrabudhe suggested educational institutes to prepare their students in technologies which are not yet invented for solving the problems which are not even known today.

Delivering convocation address at the 35th convocation of Kuvempu University on Jnana Sahyadri campus at Shankaraghatta in Bhadravathi taluk on Wednesday, he asked students to commit themselves to life-long education and learning, constantly upgrading your skills and broadening their knowledge base into other fields. There is a connection between engineering and biology, physics and philosophy, entrepreneurship and psychology, in fact domain of knowledge is becoming one continuum with no boundaries.

He opined that it is truly said that the only thing that is constant is change. In the domain of not just engineering and technology or medicine but also in all domains of knowledge there is a visible change, the pace of change is truly phenomenal.

He also noted that interdisciplinary studies are becoming the order of the day. All the new technologies developed contain; multiple disciplines and require knowledge of multiple domains. Organizations worldwide are looking for versatile people, who can cope readily with new changes, who can work in teams and who can collaborate. The new generation is seen to move into new areas every couple of years or less, which places a premium on learning new skills.

He pointed out that building a nation is very complex, very different. In particular, India is diverse in terms of languages, culture, weather, crops and nature. "All of us need to build a very strong, united nation which gives direction to the world. It is possible only if we keep our ideals above self, with high morals, work ethics, integrity of high order and work with total dedication, commitment and passion."
