<p>Inaugurating the counter, Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation Limited (KHDC) Chairman M D Lakshminarayana said that in order to increase the sales turnover of Priyadarshni Handlooms as well as to provide the products of KSIC Mysore crepe silk sarees to the customers in Priyadarshni Handlooms, KHDC has entered into an MoU with KSIC. With this, customers will get both Priyadarshini and KSIC traditional silk sarees under one roof thereby increasing the profit margin of both the companies.<br /><br />KSIC silk sarees have already been launched in Priyadarshini Handlooms in Chennai and steps will be taken to extend this facility to Hubli, Belgaum, Mumbai, New Delhi showrooms shortly, he said.<br /><br />Highlighting the progress of KHDC, he said that the Corporation has generated a record turnover of Rs 138 crores during the financial year 2010-11 and for the current financial year, KHDC is targeting a turn over of Rs 200 crore.<br /><br />There are plans to open a new Priyadarshini showroom shortly in Bangalore International Airport and KHDC is entering into an agreement with National Institute of Fashion Technolgy shortly.<br /><br />Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation Limited (KHDC) has already entered into an agreement with Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited for selling of their products at Priyadarshini outlets, he said.<br /><br />A saree which costs Rs 2.5 lakhs was the main attraction. “The saree is woven in best silk and has 0.65 per cent pure gold. It will come for more than 60 years,” he said.<br /><br />Speaking to Deccan Herald, he also informed that there are plans to install a new hallmarking system instead of tags. The hallmark will be embossed in sarees, added.<br /><br />A bottle green saree manufactured in 1958 and a royal blue saree manufactured in 1954 were on display under the vintage collection. These sarees were acquired from customers in a competition.<br /><br />KSIC Chairman B Vijayakumar said that Mysore silk will complete 100 years in 2012. A grand centenary celebration has been arranged in Mysore, he said.Deputy Commissioner Dr N S Channappa Gowda, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh were present.</p>
