The State’s average population density is 319, which is much below the national average of 382. With 47.78 lakh people, Belgaum district has been ranked second in terms of population size. It is followed by Mysore with 29.94 lakh, Tumkur 26.81 lakh, Gulbarga 25.64 per cent and Bellary 25.32 lakh population. Kodagu has the least population of just 5.54 lakh.
