'Preserve, develop natural forests'

He was speaking at a programme of planting saplings organised by the District Legal Service Authority, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Forest Department, Horticulture Department, Police Department and Bar Association at the District Court Complex premises here on Saturday. Nijagannavar said that in addition to converting carbon dioxide into oxygen, trees also perform the role as a purifier of nature. Hence, it is the responsibility of all citizens to plant saplings at office, school, house and other premises, he added.
“Man should destroy the natural forests.

“Instead, one should think of preserving and developing the natural forests,” Nijagannava emphasised adding that trees help bird species to live by providing necessary food and also induce rain.

Senior Civil Judge V H Sambrani, Deputy Commissioner Ashwathanarayana Gowda, MLA M P Appachuranjan, MLC S G Medappa, Zilla Panchyat in-charge president S N Rajarao, Sub Division Officer Akram Pasha, Additional Superintendent J D Prakash, Town Municipality chairman P D Ponnappa and Bar Association president B J Chinnappa were present.
