President presents award to Udupi Zilla Panchayat

New Delhi: Udupi Zilla Panchayat bagged the National Panchayat Award instituted by the Union Ministry of Rural Development for its contributions to the themes of sustainable and inclusive development including education in the district.

President of India Droupadi Murmu presented the award to Prateek Bayal, Chief Executive Officer of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, in an event held here on Wednesday. The award consisted of a plaque and Rs 2 crore cash.

The Ministry selected Udupi Zilla Panchayat for the award for its achievement in coordination, grama sabha, ward wise meeting, successful implementation of poverty alleviation, health, child welfare, water conservation, sanitation, infrastructure, social justice, governance, and women empowerment, Alevoor Srinivas Rao, Chief Planning Director, Udupi Zilla Panchayat told DH.
