<p>Mysuru: The tour of MLC R Rajendra, son of Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna, in the Mysuru region, has evoked curiosity among the political observers as Rajanna has been expressing his aspiration to become KPCC president over the past one month.</p><p>Rajendra is in the limelight since his father mentioned about an attempt to ‘honey-trap’ him, a fortnight back during the Assembly Session. Rajendra had alleged that a ‘big man’ was behind the honey-trap attempt and had claimed to have complete information on the issue.</p><p>Rajendra, a prominent ST leader of Tumakuru Congress is in the Mysuru region since Thursday and has been visiting leaders from the Scheduled Tribe community. He visited Srikanteshwara temple in Nanjangud, on Thursday. Many ST leaders accompanied Rajendra, during his Mysuru tour, on Friday also.</p><p>While Rajanna represents Madhugiri Assembly segment in Tumakuru district, Rajendra was elected from the local bodies constituency in 2021. At present, Rajanna is also Hassan district in-charge minister. Speaking to media persons, in Mysuru, on Thursday, Rajendra said that he has lodged a complaint with Tumakuru Superintendent of Police about the alleged ‘supari’ to kill him.</p><p><strong>'Siddaramaiah is our leader'</strong></p><p>In reply to a question, on Friday, Rajendra said, “Even now Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is our leader. It is not true that we are being targeted due to this”.</p><p>To a question, if his father Rajanna is trying to be Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, Rajendra said, “My father is a senior Congress minister. He has worked for the party for over four decades. He began organising and strengthening the Congress as a leader of the Youth Congress. If given a chance, he can do a commendable job. I will also be with him, in strengthening the Congress. But, it is up to the party high command to decide”.</p><p>A senior Congress leader of Mysuru, accompanying Rajendra, said, we do not know the intention behind his tour in Mysuru. “We thought it was to visit temples. As he is also a ST leader, he visited the houses of some ST leaders of Mysuru region. He also held small meetings, gathering a few leaders, wherever possible,” he said.</p><p>Somashekar Nayak, a ST leader of Mysuru, said, “There is no hidden agenda behind Rajendra’s visit. He was in Mysuru and thus he met the community leaders. Nothing wrong in it. In fact, the meetings would be helpful in strengthening the party, as it develops a rapport among the community people and leaders”.</p><p>However, another Congress leader said, Rajanna and Rajendra are trying to lay a foundation, by networking with their community people, to claim stake for the KPCC president’s post.</p>
