Rajnath Singh to inaugurate H125 helicopter unit in Kolar's Vemgal on Feb 17

Kolar: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate India’s first private final assembly line (FAL) for H125 helicopters, set up jointly by Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), the aerospace arm of Tata Group, at Vemgal in the district on February 17.

“As per his itinerary, the defence minister will arrive in Bengaluru on February 16, where he will take part in several programmes. On the evening of February 17, Rajnath will visit the TASL site at Vemgal and inaugurate the FAL for H125 helicopters,” Kolar MP M Mallesh Babu told DH.

The MP said he would hold a site inspection ahead of the minister’s visit at Vemgal on Sunday.

The Tata-Airbus helicopter manufacturing unit is coming up on 50 acres of land at Vemgal industrial area.

Karnataka staved off competition from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh to bag the deal. The facility is the fourth such unit in the world. The delivery of the first Made in India H125 is expected in the first half of 2027.
