Rowdy-sheeter, 15 others booked for 'ganja party' in Karnataka's Kollegal

Kollegal: The Chamarajanagar district police have registered a case against a Bengaluru-based rowdy-sheeter and 15 of his associates, following a raid on a 'ganja party' held at a farmhouse in Kollegal taluk, on Friday night.

The prime accused has been identified as Mohammed Zahir, a rowdy-sheeter from Bengaluru. Cases have been booked against Fayaz (the farmhouse owner) and Umar, both residents of Kollegal, along with 15 others who were present at the gathering.

Raid

Acting on a tip off that a group of armed rowdy-sheeters was staying in Kollegal, a police team raided the farmhouse belonging to Fayaz. Upon entering the house, the police found Mohammed Zahir celebrating his birthday with family members and friends.

Testing

During a thorough search of the premises, the police recovered 90 grams of ganja. Suspecting drug abuse, the attendees were subjected to medical examination. The tests confirmed that 15 individuals had consumed ganja, during the celebration.

Chamarajanagar District Superintendent of Police (SP) M Muthuraj confirmed the development to the media, stating that the raid was part of a larger crackdown on criminal elements in the district.

While the initial tip-off suggested the presence of weapons, the search primarily led to the seizure of narcotics and the identification of drug consumers,” he said.

Investigation is underway to determine the source of the drugs and if the group was involved in any other criminal activity during their stay in Kollegal town.
