Rs 52K credited to each Gruha Lakshmi beneficiary: Dinesh Gooligowda

Gooligowda told reporters that the government has spent over Rs 1.20 lakh crore on its five guarantee schemes in the last two and a half years, transferring funds directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

MLC and vice-chairperson of the Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority Dinesh Gooligowda said that the state government has, so far, credited the 26th instalment of Rs 2,000 under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, taking the total assistance to Rs 52,000 for each woman head of household. 

He told reporters that the government has spent over Rs 1.20 lakh crore on its five guarantee schemes in the last two and a half years, transferring funds directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme alone, 1,24,10,629 women have registered, with a total expenditure of Rs 62,345.34 crore so far. The funds for the 27th instalment have already been released and will soon reach beneficiaries across all 31 districts, he added.

“Since Rs 2,000 is being directly credited every month, women’s participation in household financial decisions has increased. The guarantee schemes are not just financial assistance, but a promise of dignity,” he said.

Highlighting the progress of other schemes, he said the Gruha Jyothi programme is providing free electricity up to 200 units to 1.65 crore households and over 679 crore free bus tickets have been issued to women under the Shakti scheme.  The Anna Bhagya scheme has incurred an expenditure of Rs 16,000 crore and more than 3 lakh unemployed graduates are receiving financial assistance under the Yuva Nidhi scheme, he said.

Alleging misinformation by the opposition parties, he said, “The guarantee schemes will not be discontinued under any circumstances. They are being implemented for all without discrimination.”
