<p>In the backdrop of a Naxal group visiting the SC/ST colony, at Ammudange Mucchiradka near Shishila in Belthangady taluk, the senior police officials visited the spot on Wednesday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>It was said that Mucchiradka Charumba Mugera’s son Aravind had gone to wash his clothes in a stream inside the forest, when he encountered the Naxals, who had reportedly come from Miyar reserve forest. Later, they followed Aravind and visited his house, on Tuesday evening. <br /><br />As the news began to spread, the ANF team led by Inspector Prasanna Kumar visited the region and began combing operation. <br /><br />The visit of the police has reportedly created fear among the villagers. In fact, the villagers who had gathered in front of hotels and shops on Wednesday, were seen discussing the issue of Naxals’ visit to the colony. <br /><br />Puttur ASP Anucheth also held a meeting with the villagers in Gram Panchayat premises. <br />Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the villagers not to support them. <br /><br />“The villagers need not worry. If you have any details on the Naxals, then inform us, We are with you,” he said. <br /><br />The villagers too have promised not to support the naxals. “No villager will support Naxal movement. We will inform the police if we spot any Naxal. However, in the name of Naxals, please do not torture us,” they said. <br /><br />Spoke in Tulu<br /><br />Aravind, who had encountered Naxals said that he was washing clothes in a stream inside the forest when three armed men and a woman approached him and told him that they were Naxals.<br /><br /> “We will not harm you,” they said and asked about his family members and problems in the village. <br /><br />“I was scared to answer to them and ran to my house,” he told the police. <br /><br />Aravind’s mother Aniyara said that her son left the clothes inside the forest and had come running home after he met them. “They brought the clothes and kept it on the verandah. The woman in the team was speaking in Tulu,” she said. <br /><br />There was a trail from Kudremukh to Holegundi via Kuthloor, Neriya, Gandibagilu, Amedikallu, Kallaru, Ambudedange, Holegundi inside the forest. There is road from Amedikallu to Mudigere via Yettinabhuja, Bairapura and Mudigere, said villagers. <br /><br />Villagers said that though it is true that Shishila village is being developed, the SC/ST colony has been neglected over the years. In this background, the Naxals would have visited. “Several houses in the colony do not have electricity connection. The work on pipeline has been completed. <br /><br />However, water connection is still a dream,” they said. The meeting of the villagers was attended by ZP Vice-President Dhanalakshmi Janardhan, ZP Member Balakrishna Banajalu, Shishila GP President Shyamala and others.<br /><br /> IGP (Western Range) Prathap Reddy visited Shishila later in the evening and held talks with GP President and members. <br /></p>
