Speaking at an interaction meet on fertiliser subsidy policy and alternatives in Honnashettyhalli recently, she postulated that farmers in drought-hit region need incentives and the government should come out with a specific policy in this regard.
She expressed concern that lack of state funding for demonstration of new inventions in agriculture has hampered the research work. District Kannada Sahitya Parishat president K Prahlada Rao said that despite spending thousands of crores of rupees for chemical farming, food security has still remained elusive.
Progressive farmer K P Suresh, Assistant Director of Agriculture Department Narayanappa, Gram Panchayat member K N Prasanna and others were present.
