<p> The awareness jatha Systematic Voters Electoral Education Participation (SVEEP) of district administration was launched in a special way, here, on Tuesday with two visually impaired flagging it off. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The rally was taken out from Kote Anjaneya Temple on Amba Vilas Palace premises to deputy commissioner’s office, with campaigners distributing information brochures and pamphlets to the public regarding electoral procedures, all along the way. They appealed to the voters to compulsorily cast their vote on May 5.<br /><br />SVEEP aims at educating voters about fraudulent voting, maintaining secrecy, voting intellectually, and ensuring for free and fair elections. <br /><br />Students, volunteers of NGOs along with cultural troupes participated in the jatha spreading message of importance of voting. <br /><br />In Mandya<br /><br />Colleges are abuzz with activity with awareness campaign on voting gaining momentum, in Mandya district. But those involved in the campaigning are not netas and their supporters, but the college students themselves.<br /><br />The youths under SVEEP programme has been visiting all first grade, technical and medical colleges and explaining the importance of exercising their franchise, and its importance in bringing a change for the betterment of the society.<br /><br />Two teams have been formed and a team under IAS probationary officer Hebsibarani Chlorapati and assistant director of youth services and sports Dr H P Manjula have been visiting colleges at Mandya sub-divisional offices. <br /><br />Another team under KAS probationary officer Shivananda Karale and Nehru Yuva Kendra coordinating officer Siddaramappa have begun awareness campaigns at Pandavapura sub division.<br />In rural areas, awareness is being created through street plays and songs. <br />The district administration is involved in the programme with the objective of improving the voting percentage in the district.<br /><br />In Chamarajanagar<br /><br />Deputy commissioner M V Savitri called upon the people to vote and said that 100 per cent voting was necessary for creating a better society.<br /><br />Speaking after inaugurating the voters’ awareness rally, organised by the district administration home guards and Lions Club, she said that every person above 18 years should cast their valuable votes. The voters should only keep in mind the development of the country while casting their votes and should not be attracted by inducements. <br /><br />In Hassan<br /><br />SVEEP was launched here, on Tuesday, by artistes enacting street plays highlighting the importance of participation of the citizens in the electoral process.<br /><br />Deputy commissioner K P Mohan Raj inaugurated the jatha, in which students, offiOn the occasion, voters who have completed 18 years of age, were made to fill Form No 6 to include their names in voters list.<br /></p>
