Time will tell everything: Karnataka Deputy CM Shivakumar on ongoing power tussle

New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said on Wednesday that “time will tell everything,” amid his ongoing power tussle with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. 

Shivakumar, in the national capital for the past two days to attend meetings related to the upcoming Assam Assembly polls, was responding to reporters’ questions about his brother and former MP D K Suresh’s recent statement.

Suresh had said Siddaramaiah would honour the reported power-sharing pact between him and Shivakumar. “Time will tell everything. Only I know what I have discussed with Siddaramaiah in our closed-door meeting. I don’t want to talk about this much publicly,” Shivakumar said.

He also reportedly sought an appointment with senior Congress leadership, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. However, replying to reporters’ queries, Shivakumar denied having sought appointments with top party leaders. The deputy chief minister said he would return to Bengaluru on Thursday afternoon, after attending one more meeting on the Assam elections.

Meeting with Kharge, Venugopal 

Shivakumar and Suresh called on Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal here on Wednesday night. The brothers held closed-door discussions with Kharge and Venugopal separately, each lasting around half an hour.

Congress sources told DH that neither Kharge nor Venugopal offered any concrete assurance to the brothers. Instead, they reportedly indicated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would take the final call on the matter. Shivakumar declined to speak to the media on these meetings.
