Two engineering students drown in Bhadra canal near Karnataka's Channagiri

Davangere: Two engineering students of Bapuji Institute of Engineering & Technology (BIET) allegedly drowned in Bhadra canal at Marabanahalli in Channagiri taluk on Thursday.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Vivek (23) and Manasi (23). The young woman, who was washing utensils, fell into the canal by chance. Vivek, who jumped into the canal to rescue her, also drowned. Around ten students of the college had gone to a temple near Marabanahalli.

They had lunch near the Bhadra canal. Manasi, who was washing utensils sitting on the steps of the canal, accidentally fell into the canal. Vivek also drowned in his attempt to rescue her.The search is on to retrieve the body of the young woman. Basavapatna police registered a case and the investigation is on.
