According to the people connected with the Palace, the Vaastu of Amba Vilas is such that no death of royals occurs within Mysore Palace.<br /><br />To substantiate this, Krishna a Tourism department approved Palace guide told Deccan Herald that starting from Chamaraja Wadiyar X, who died in Kolkata, none of the kings have died in Mysore. <br /><br />Chamaraja Wadiyar’s son Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar who ruled as the 24th Maharaja died in Bangalore Palace, so also his nephew and the 25th and last ruler of Mysore Jayachamaraja Wadiyar. Now, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar’s end too came at Bangalore Palace. <br /><br />Krishna says, even Wadiyar’s mother Tripurasundarammanni died in a private hospital in city, while Sathyaprema Kumari died in summer palace behind Zoo. However, there was a death among a commoner inside the palace compound, who died of heart attack near Jayamarthanda Gate.<br /><br />Sugar distribution<br /><br />Thimmamma, aged 65 is among the few living staff in the Palace who was witness to both birth and death of royal scion Srikantadatta Wadiyar.<br /><br />Thimmamma’s memory is still afresh, when she, at the age of five savoured sugar distributed by the Palace to celebrate the birth of a baby boy to Jayachamaraja Wadiyar. As was the tradition earlier, distribution of sugar was synonymous with the new borns. Thimmamma recalled that sugar was distributed in as many as seven surrounding villages</p>.<p>.<br />Chapati, daal<br /><br />Shivamurthy who has been working in the Maharaja’s residence for the past 22 years said that the Maharaja was always fond of ‘chapati and daal’. “He also liked rice and dry fruits,” he added.</p>
