<p>Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara welcomed the 'Operation Sindoor' strikes carried out by the Indian army into Pakistan on Wednesday. </p><p>"We support the action by the Defence Ministry. I reiterate that we will extend our support to maintain the country’s security,” Parameshwara said. He was speaking to the reporters near his residence on Wednesday. </p><p>Parameshwara said that preparations are ongoing to train for civil defence as per the advisory issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Defence. He further noted that the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) has been deployed at power installations in the state. </p><p>“Wherever the central forces have to deploy security cover, they are doing it. We are deploying state forces wherever necessary (big establishments, dams, and airports),” the home minister noted. </p><p>He also said that the state intelligence wing has been sensitised and has been directed to keep in contact with central agencies to gather intelligence. Additionally, the state police have also been briefed about taking precautionary measures. </p><p>Speaking about calling off the Raichur protest, Parameshwara said that the country’s security is most important right now; hence, other programs have been halted</p>.Operation Sindoor | Why did the Indian armed forces pick these 9 terror sites?.<p><strong>Same situation in 1972 </strong></p><p>Parameshwara spoke after the mock drills at Home Guards and Civil Defence Academy and said that such preparations may have been done in 1972 before the war against Pakistan, and we are doing it again now. </p><p>Parameshwara noted that the recent incident in Kashmir has hurt every Indian and said, “It pains me to remember that 26 unarmed innocent people who had visited to see Kashmir were killed.”</p><p>“The Defense Department carried out strikes on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan around 1 am last night. Though there is no clarity on how many were killed, a war-like situation has arisen,” he said, adding that we need to prepare for such a situation. </p><p>Elaborating on how and why the said places were chosen for conducting mock drills in the state, Parameshwara said that there is a power generation unit in Raichur that provides electricity to the entire state, a nuclear plant in Karwar, and Bengaluru has the power to generate massive taxes, helping the country’s economy.</p>
