<p>Mangaluru: A woman from <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/mangaluru">Mangaluru</a> has reportedly lost over Rs 20 lakh in a work-from-home job scam after being lured through a social media advertisement.</p><p>According to a complaint filed with the Bajpe Police, the victim came across an Instagram advertisement on May 6 promoting part-time work-from-home job opportunities. She clicked on the ad and was later contacted via the Telegram messaging app by an individual who shared three links, asking her to like and rate restaurants, hotels, and other locations with five stars, leave comments, and send screenshots as proof of task completion.</p><p>The fraudsters convinced her that she could earn commissions by completing such tasks. Later, “Meena Reddy” sent her a trading account registration link via a URL, which she filled out. She was then instructed to connect with a person named Rajesh Verma for guidance on task execution and commission payments.</p><p>Over time, she was introduced to multiple individuals—Rohit Sharma, Lucky Singh, and Ravi Patel—each through separate Telegram links. The scammers used small payouts and a network of seemingly legitimate contacts to gain her trust. Eventually, over a series of transactions, they allegedly defrauded her of a total amount of Rs 20.62 lakh. The accused have since stopped responding, and the money has not been returned. A case has been registered at the Bajpe Police Station.</p>
