<p>Thiruvananthapuram: An ex-NRI was held on Sunday in connection with the day-light bank robbery at Thrissur in Kerala on Friday.</p> <p>Rijo Antony, a native of Asharikad near Chalakudy in Thrissur, was held in connection with the robbery at Federal Bank's Pota branch near Chalakudy. Out of the Rs. 15 lakh stolen, around Rs. 10 lakh was recovered.</p> <p>Antony, who earlier worked in the Gulf countries, told the police that liabilities caused by his lavish lifestyle prompted him to go for bank robbery. His wife is still working abroad.</p> <p>Thrissur rural district police chief B Krishnakumar said that Antony was having an account in the same branch and he visited the bank in the recent days to familiarise the surroundings. He used a fake number plate for his scooter, changed his dress a couple of times while proceeding to his home after the robbery and also took pocket roads without surveillance cameras. He also fixed a rear view mirror on his scooter while proceeding after the robbery.</p> <p>But the police nabbed him with the scooter model he was using as well as the colour of the footwear he was using.</p> <p>The accused had masked his face using a helmet and masks and entered the bank on Friday afternoon. He brandished a knife at the bank staff and locked them in one room. He then entered the cash counter by breaking the cabin door and decamped with cash.</p>
