<p>Thiruvananthapuram: The Pinarayi Vijayan government in Kerala is again taking forward the much hyped Silverline semi-highspeed rail project despite strong resistance it had faced earlier.</p><p>Vijayan is learnt to have taken up the matter with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi on Tuesday.</p><p>It is learnt that the union minister said that a revised proposal submitted by 'Metroman' E Sreedharan would be considered..</p><p>The railways had earlier strongly opposed the Kerala government's high speed rail project as it required railway land and was also proposed close to the existing railway line. It could also affect future railway developments. The railways were insisting on setting up a third and fourth rail line in the state. Though Sreedharan submitted the proposal several months back, it was not yet considered by the railways.</p><p>The Kerala government earlier took steps to lay demarcation stones for the Silverline rail project. It met with strong resistance from the public. Subsequently the project was kept on the back burner citing lack of nod from the centre. </p><p>Meanwhile, a long pending proposal to have a railway line to Sabarimala from Angamaly got an impetus in the discussions on Tuesday.</p><p>Kerala minister in charge of railway V Abdurahiman said that the centre agreed to take forward the project, which is titled Sabari rail. It is learnt that the union minister had assured to sort out the issues over cost sharing.</p><p>The proposal that was pending for more than 25 years was getting delayed owing to differences between the state and centre over cost sharing. The project cost escalated by over 35 percent touching around Rs 3,800 crore. A blame game was also going on between the state and centre over the project which comprises of 111 kilometre railway line.</p>
