<p>Mumbai: A major tragedy was averted after the successful rescue of 14 fishermen from a boat which caught fire in the Arabian Sea off Alibaug coast in the Raigad district on Friday. </p><p>The fishing boat - Ekvira Mauli - caught fire in the wee hours off Akshi, when it was six to seven nautical miles away from the coast. The crew members sent out distress signals to the Raigad police, Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. </p><p>Coast Guard ship ICG Savitribai Phule rushed to the rescue and initiated fire fighting operations.</p>.I am okay with people from Thane, Baramati: Maharashtra CM Fadnavis referring to his Dy CMs.<p>The crew was shifted to another fishing boat Dhan Laxmi while the boat that caught fire was brought to the Alibaug coast. </p><p>"At 0635 Hrs today ICG Ship SavitribaiPhule detected Fishing boat Ekvira Mauli(IND-MH-03-MM-4922) on fire off Mumbai . Responding the distress scenario ship undertook firefighting Operation. All 14 crew shifted to another FB Dhan Laxmi. Shipborne ICG firefighting capabilities were employed to successfully extinguish the fire onboard boat. ICG provided Fishermen with firstaid and handed over boar to other IFB for onward towing assistance to alibaug. Boat has entered alibaug," Coast Guard's official statement read. </p><p>The Raigad police confirmed that there were no casualties and timely intervention prevented any loss of life.</p>
