Asha Bhosle hospitalised due to chest infection, says her granddaughter

The 92-year-old Asha Tai, as she is popularly known, was admitted to the Emergency Medical Services Unit of the Breach Candy Hospital, located near her residence in Peddar Road.

Mumbai: Iconic playback singer Asha Bhosle was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday.

The 92-year-old Asha Tai, as she is popularly known, was rushed in the evening to the Emergency Medical Services Unit of the Breach Candy Hospital, which is located near her residence in Peddar Road.

Initial reports said she suffered a heart attack.

However, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle said everything would be fine.

“My grandmother, Asha Bhosle due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection has been admitted to hospital and we request you to value our privacy. Treatment is ongoing and hopefully everything will be well and we shall update you positively, Zanai posted on X.

The Breach Candy Hospital, however, has not shared any update on Asha Bhosle’s health.

Known for her distinct voice and unique singing style, she has won several awards and honours, including the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian honour and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
