'CM Fadnavis has assured investigations': Sunetra Pawar seeks CBI probe over Ajit Pawar's plane crash

Speaking on the Baramati plane crash in which her husband Ajit Pawar and four others died, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar said on Sunday that she has requested for a CBI probe and was assured of a thorough investigation.

A few days ago, Sunetra Pawar submitted a memorandum to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the portfolios of Home, Law and Judiciary.

“We have requested for a CBI probe….the Chief Minister has assured thorough investigations,” she told reporters at the customary press conference on the eve of the legislature session.

Sunetra Pawar was accompanied by Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at the press conference.

When asked about the probe, Fadnavis said that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is conducting the probe which will present the preliminary findings into the 28 January 2026 plane crash at Baramati.

“Let the report be out before we arrive at any conclusions,” the Chief Minister said while responding to a volley of questions about the issues raised by NCP (SP) MLA and Ajit Pawar’s nephew Rohit Pawar.

“We all are shocked about the it…definitely the family is shocked,” he said, adding that a probe has been ordered.

“We have asked for an investigation by the State-CID….the NCP has requested for a CBI probe,” he said, adding that he has already spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the needful would be done.
