<p>Mumbai: In back to back swift operations, local administration and disaster response agencies have rescued eight persons in Baramati and six persons who were stranded across a river in the Solapur district on Monday as heavy rains pounded parts of Western Maharashtra.</p><p>The rescue operation was undertaken past midnight.</p><p>The NDRF team from Pune rushed to the river banks along Kurubavi in Malshiras tehsil and rescued the six people. </p><p>Those rescued include three men, two women and a child, reports reaching said. </p>.Heavy rains, strong winds continue to lash Kerala causing widespread destruction.<p>Parts of Solapur and the Baramati in Pune district have been pounded by heavy rains on Sunday leading to breaches in canals. </p><p>Baramati has witnessed severe inundation and crop losses. Couple of NDRF teams are stationed in Baramati. </p><p>Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who is from Baramati, reviewed the emerging situation. </p><p>Meanwhile, Baramati MP Supriya Sule has urged the government to cancel the examinations scheduled on Monday.</p>
