<p>Navi Mumbai: A new-born baby girl was found abandoned in a basket with an emotional apology and “sorry” note in the satellite township of Navi Mumbai.</p><p>Local residents including morning walkers and sanitation workers on Saturday morning alerted the police about the infant lying in a blue-coloured basket on a footpath at Takka Colony in Panvel area of Navi Mumbai. </p><p>The place where the baby was abandoned is near an orphanage. </p><p>The baby is stable, according to reports.</p><p>A handwritten note in English, allegedly from the mother, expressed helplessness.</p>.Navi Mumbai: 26 hospitalised after carbon monoxide discharge at industrial unit.<p>The newborn's parents claimed their financial condition was not sound, due to which they will not be able to raise the child. </p><p>The girl's parents also said "sorry" in the note, as they were not able to do anything and had no other option, the official added.</p><p>The Panvel Town police have registered a case against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on charges of abandoning the newborn, he said.</p><p>According to police, people are being questioned and CCTV is being analysed. </p>.Nine labourers go missing in landslide triggered by cloudburst in Uttarkashi.<p>Details from local hospitals are also being checked. </p><p>Senior police inspector Nitin Thakare said that efforts are underway to identify the child’s biological parents.</p><p>Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur visited the hospital to inquire about the health of the baby.</p><p>The girl is likely to be placed under the custody of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). </p>
