This platform will not only highlight cutting-edge CSIR technologies but also foster collaborations that transform ideas into scalable enterprises,” said Prof Singh.

“The main objective of the event is to create a platform for discussing the technologies developed by CSIR and how startups can leverage these innovations, as well as to disseminate this information to the wider public. The role of the startup ecosystem and technology will be crucial in realizing this vision. In this regard, the conclave holds significant importance,” he said.

“This conclave is a major opportunity for all the three laboratories under the CSIR. The startups participating in the conclave are, in some way or the other, connected with CSIR. These startups will present the technologies they are working on,” Dr Lele said, adding that the NCL had launched India’s first incubator, the Venture Center, in 2006.

This Venture Center will also participate in the conclave. “This unique incubator is exclusively associated with deep-tech startups in the fields of health technology, medical technology, clean energy, and sustainable industries. So far, the Venture Center has extended support and assistance to more than 1,500 startups. India is currently the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world. This ecosystem is growing at a rate of 15 to 20 percent annually. The Central Government is making every possible effort to encourage and support the growth of these startups. The CSIR is also playing a significant role in supporting these government efforts,” he added.

“We are currently facing numerous environmental challenges, and this makes startups in this field especially important. In line with this, the CSIR-NEERI has placed a strong emphasis on water,” said Dr Mohan. “To tackle water-related environmental problems with the support of startups, the institute is focusing on technologies related to water purification, separation of toxic substances from water, and collaboration with startups working in these areas,” he added.

Over the course of two days, technical sessions will explore “Shark Tank: Start-ups Pitch to Funders & Investors,” “Marine Robotics: Innovations for the Blue Economy,” “Marine Biomanufacturing: Opportunities & Challenges,” “Sustainable Interventions in Environmental Science & Engineering” and “Building Scalable Environmental Start-ups: Challenges & Opportunities.”
