Sunetra Pawar meets PM Modi, Amit Shah amid buzz over NCP reunion

Mumbai: Amid fast political developments in Maharashtra, newly-appointed Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar along with her two sons and NCP top brass, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The meetings were described as courtesy calls, however, being held in the backdrop of the conflicting reports about possible merger between NCP and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP)

After her husband Ajit Pawar’s death in a plane crash at Baramati on 28 January, Sunetra Pawar was elected NCP legislature party leader and sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister on 31 January.

Sunetra Pawar formally took charge of her office and the ministries of State Excise Duty, Sports and Youth Affairs, Minorities Development and Aukaf on Tuesday and the New Delhi visit comes a day after that.

Sunetra Pawar was accompanied by her sons - Parth and Jay, NCP Working President Praful Patel and the party’s state unit President Sunil Tatkare, when she visited the Parliament complex and called on Modi and Shah separately.
