West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday slammed the BJP-led government at the Centre for the attack on CRPF jawans in Jammu and Kashmir and accused it of not acting on pre-attack intelligence inputs.

She also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah of indulging in politics over the incident.

She asked why the Centre did not take any decisive action after the Pathankot incident.

"When election is knocking at the door, it comes to your mind that the country must go to war; then you try to create a shadow war and play with the lives of people," said Banerjee.

“We want to know who killed them (CRPF jawans)? Why so many people died together? Why the Centre did not take it seriously? Why despite intelligence inputs so many vehicles with jawans were allowed to move together,” asked Banerjee.at a media interaction at the State Secretariat.

The Chief Minister also claimed that the CRPF had requested the Centre for airlifting the jawans.

She alleged “negligence” led to the attack and demanded to know why the Centre did not take action to prevent the attack.

“One incident had taken place. So many jawans had got killed and still there was negligence. Why nearly 2,500 jawans were allowed to travel together in 78 vehicles when the government had intelligence input that there might be an attack on the jawans?” asked Banerjee.

“Even when we are silent Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are giving speeches in such a manner as if they are the only patriots and all the rest are terrorists,” said Banerjee.
Communal tension

She alleged that BJP, RSS and VHP were trying to create communal tension in West Bengal.

“For the last two days it has come to my notice that RSS pracharaks are coming out on the streets with national flags at around 11 to 12 am...RSS pracharaks who are outsiders are trying to incite riots among communities,” said the Chief Minister. She also alleged that some RSS leaders are spreading rumours about child trafficking and some others in Bengal are trying to foment tension by posting provocative messages on social media regarding the attack on CRPF jawans.
