<p>New Delhi: Naxal incidents have witnessed a “sharp reduction” of 25 per cent this year as well as the killing of security personnel compared to 2023, the Ministry of Home Affairs has said.</p><p>The statistics have come out in data placed before Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha by Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai last week. The resultant deaths of civilians and security personnel have reduced by 86 per cent from an all time high of 1,005 in 2010 to 138 in 2023. </p><p>There are nine states, which have 38 districts – down from 126 districts in ten states in 2010 – impacted by naxal violence. Of the 38 districts, 15 are from Chhattisgarh followed by seven in Odisha and five in Jharkhand. Madhya Pradesh has three naxal infested districts while Maharashtra, Telangana and Kerala have two each and Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal one each.</p> .<p>In 2024 till November 15, Rai said, there has been a sharp reduction of 25 per cent in naxal incidents in comparison to 2023. </p><p>This year, there were 299 incidents, with an overwhelming majority reported from Chhattisgarh (206) followed by Jharkhand (60) and Maharashtra (10). Kerala and West Bengal did not report any incident this year while six others recorded incidents in single digit.</p><p>In 2020, there were 470 incidents while in 2021 it came down to 361 but rose to 413 in 2022 and witnessed a further rise in 2023 with 485 incidents in which Chhattisgarh (304) and Jharkhand (129) accounted for the most. </p><p>The number of police stations reporting naxal related violence has also significantly reduced from 465 police stations in 2010 to 171 in 2023</p>
