<p>An anti-Gujarati community tweet by Congress MLA Nitesh Rane, son of former Maharashtra chief minister Narayan Rane, has created a flutter in political circles and is snowballing into a major controversy.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The state unit of the Congress was, however, quick to distance itself from the comments of Rane Jr.<br /><br />In a tweet, Nitesh said: “Want to take part in Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan and start from Mumbai. Want to start cleaning up all the Marathi hating Gujaratis from there once for all”.<br />A few hours later, he came out with another tweet – “So much hoopla over my statement on the Marathi hating Gujaratis but no one is focussing on the hate statements passed by them almost everyday.”<br /><br />He later clarified that he was not against Gujaratis who want harmony, but only against those who want to take control of the city.<br /><br /></p>
