No longer India's PM, working for the US: Rahul Gandhi says Modi is 'finished psychologically'

Lucknow: Former Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the latter had ‘surrendered’ before the US.

‘’Narendra Modi is finished psychologically. He is no longer working as India’s PM. He is working for the US,’’ Rahul said while addressing party workers at an event organized on the occasion of the forthcoming birth anniversary of BSP founder and dalit leader Kanshiram here.

‘’Narendra Modi has compromised with the energy security of the country. America is deciding who we should buy oil from the situation in the energy sector will deteriorate further,’’ the Congress leader said.

He said that he wanted to raise this issue in the Parliament but he was not allowed to speak.

He said that the trade deal with the USA was not in the interest of the country. ‘’We will buy goods worth Rs nine lakh crore from USA. The US farmers will sell cotton, fruits, almonds here. It will finish us,’’ he added.

Rahul said that Modi did not ‘believe’ in the Constitution. ‘’Our Constitution contains our country’s thousands of years old ideology, it does not have Godse’s ideology…Gandhi, Ambedkar and Kanshiram too faced difficulties but they were never compromised ... .Modi is compromised…he is under US pressure,’’ he said.

Heaping praise on Kanshiram, Rahul said that the former would have been Congress’ chief minister had Nehru been alive. ‘’Kanshiram talked about equality in the society. He succeeded because Congress could not do its work completely,’’ he added.

Rahul also accused the Modi government of ignoring the interests of the dalits and the OBCs and weaker sections of the society.

He exhorted the Congress workers to work to strengthen the party at the grass root level and merely raise slogans.

Although Kanshiram’s birth anniversary was on March 15, Congress organised the event two days before. It was organized by the SC/ST cell of the party.
