Non-bailable warrant against Chiranjeevi's brother

The court in Wanaparthy town has issued the warrant against Kalyan, following a private defamation suit filed by local Congress leader D Kiran Kumar, SP G Sudheer Babu told PTI over phone.

In his complaint, Kumar, also an advocate, charged Kalyan with making allegations and "abusive" remarks against Congress leaders near Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad city in 2008, another police officer from Wanaparty said.

The warrant was issued after Kalyan "failed" to turn up before the court despite serving of summons.

"The private complaint was lodged in 2008 against the actor. Kalyan was supposed to appear before the court today, but he failed in doing so and hence the NBW has been issued," he explained.

Asked, if Kalyan was likely to be arrested soon, the police officer said, "The NBW will be first sent to the police and once after receiving the same the actor will be arrested. The court will decide on whom (police officer) to be deputed for serving the NBW against the actor."
