<p>The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has agreed to set up a 4,000-MW thermal Power Plant at Ramagundam in Karimnagar district adjacent to their existing units as an expansion unit.<br /><br /></p>.<p>According to a press release on Tuesday, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has assured NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Arup Roy Choudhury, who called on him, that his government would take up the issue of coal linkage to the mega power project. <br /><br />The Telangana government has also offered to provide land and other necessary infrastructure for the project. <br /><br />KCR has been arguing that coal from Telangana’s collieries must be used to produce thermal electricity for the power-strapped state. “This will reduce production costs,” he suggested.</p>
