<p>Controversial independent legislator Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhiaya made a comeback to the Akhilesh Yadav ministry on Friday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Singh was administered the oath of office and secrecy at a function at the Raj Bhavan here in the presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, senior ministers and Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders. <br /><br />Raja Bhaiya, who was sacked after his name figured in the FIR lodged in connection with the killing of DSP Zia-ul-Haq a few months back, thanked the SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh and alleged that he had been implicated in the murder as part of a conspiracy.<br /><br />While the BJP termed his re-induction as an `internal matter' of SP, the Congress claimed that he was been taken back owing to `vote-bank politics'.<br /><br />The CBI, which had probed the DSP's killing, had given Raja Bhaiya a clean chit after the agency failed to find any credible evidence against him. The slain DSP's wife Parveen Azad had named Raja Bhaiya in the murder of the cop.<br /><br />The agency had quizzed Raja Bhaiya for several hours on two successive days and later made him undergo a lie detector test. Raja Bhaiya had claimed that he was innocent and was in the state capital when the killing took place.<br /><br />Haq was killed by unidentified assailants soon after he arrived at Walipur village in Pratapgarh district after getting information about a clash there. The violence erupted after an ex-pradhan of the village, Nanhen Yadav, was gunned down near the village and a mob had gone on rampage suspecting the involvement of a rival group in the killing. In the ensuing violence, Nahen Yadav's brother Suresh Yadav was also killed.<br /><br /> ‘Political compulsion’ may have forced a ‘reluctant' Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to re-induct Raja Bhaiya in his cabinet. According to SP sources here, he was taken back to `placate' the powerful Thakur community, which had openly aired its resentment over the alleged `persecution' of its members in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar districts.</p>
