Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday summoned and questioned the power discoms and Delhi Transco officials over the regular complaints of outages despite the ‘city having surplus power supply,’ even as Delhi residents continue to suffer from hour-long power cuts.

.
She summoned chief executive officers of power discoms BSES Rajdhani Power Limited and BSES Yamuna Power Limited and director (operations) of Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) to discuss the power outage issue.

Delhi government officials said Dikshit directed them to take action and told the discom and DTL officials to stop the blame game over the issue.

“Customers across the capital, including west Delhi, have been experiencing difficult time due to longer power cuts despite the power being available in surplus between 500 to 800 MW. The mess probably has been created because of lack of co-ordination and swift monitoring, and callousness of the discoms and DTL,” said Dikshit.

The meeting was attended by the parliamentary secretary to the chief minister, Mukesh Sharma, chief secretary D M Sapolia and principal secretary (power) Shakti Sinha. Officials said the chief secretary and the principal secretary would regularly review the power situation on every Tuesday and Friday.

“The discoms and DTL have been asked to submit a daily comprehensive report to the government. The chief minister directed that the no telephone number and complaint should remain unattended during this summer season. Discoms have also been asked to give wide publicity to their complaint numbers,” an official said.

Officials said two transformers of 25 KVA would be commissioned at Hastsal and Matiala in west Delhi next month.
