<div align="justify">All Anganwadi centres and the workers engaged to implement health and nutrition programmes of the central government for women and children will soon face a close monitoring of their activities on a daily basis.<br /><br />The Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry, which has “successfully” pilot-tested the efficacy of a software for the real-time monitoring of the Anganwadi centres and its workers in eight states, is now gearing up to introduce it to the whole country.<br /><br />“The software is very effective in the real-time monitoring of the Anganwadi centre’s activity and the status of implementation of our schemes. We will introduce this software in the remaining states to cover all the Anganwadi centres. It will not only streamline the functioning of the Anganwadi centres but also bring transparency in the implementation of the schemes,” a senior WCD Ministry official told DH.<br /><br />Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand are the states where the WCD ministry has tested the software in collaboration with the respective state governments. Under the project, as many as 60,000 Anganwadi workers in eight states have been provided with smart phones. “The GPS code enabled in these devices tells us whether an Anganwadi centre was opened today or not,” the official said.</div>
