<p>The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday appointed Sandeep Rao Rathore as the Director General of Police (Law and Order) in <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/tamil-nadu/bjp-will-change-tamil-nadus-name-to-dakshina-pradesh-stalins-rallies-voters-against-nda-3952401">Tamil Nadu </a>replacing G Venkatraman, who is the currently the incharge DGP.</p><p>In a communication to the Chief Secretary, the ECI said Rathore will be the new DGP (Law and Order) and asked him to submit a compliance report by Friday morning. </p>.Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 | Transfer Chief Secretary, DGP, and nine officers: Vijay to CEO.<p>The transfer comes days after Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) petitioned Chief Electoral Officer, Tamil Nadu, demanding that the DGP and senior police officials be transferred from their posts as they seem to favour the ruling party.</p><p>The petition was submitted after Vijay was disallowed to campaign in Perambur and had to cancel a meeting due to “lack of adequate security.” </p>
