Tamil Nadu Floor Test | From Velumani to C Ve Shanmugam: AIADMK rebels who backed Vijay

The confidence vote won by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Wednesday, May 13, exposed deep cracks within the AIADMK, with a sizeable group of party MLAs defying the leadership of Edappadi K Palaniswami and voting in favour of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government.

The rebellion, led by senior AIADMK leaders SP Velumani and C Ve Shanmugam, is being seen as one of the biggest internal challenges faced by Palaniswami since taking charge of the party after the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
