<p>Chennai: An elderly couple and their son were murdered by an unidentified gang inside their farmhouse in Palladam near the knitwear hub of Tiruppur on Friday morning, police said. </p><p>The deceased have been identified as 78-year-old Deivasigamani, his wife Alamelu (75), and their son Senthilkumar, who lived in Coimbatore but came to meet his parents to accompany them for an engagement ceremony. </p><p>The incident comes at a time when the opposition parties in <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/tamil-nadu">Tamil Nadu</a> have been accusing the DMK government of not focusing on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. </p><p>Police said the couple were living in their farmhouse in Semalai Kavundampalayam and they were often visited by Senthilkumar and their daughter, who lives in Chennimalai near Erode. </p>.500-year-old bronze statue stolen from Tamil Nadu temple to be returned by Oxford University.<p>It is said that Senthilkumar, an IT employee who lived in Coimbatore with his wife and seven-year-old son, came to visit his parents last night. The gory triple murder came to light on Friday morning when a barber came to the farmhouse only to witness the three lying in a pool of blood. </p><p>Tiruppur City Police Commissioner S Lakshmi said she has constituted five special teams to probe different angles of the crime, including the motive. She said prima facie it appears that multiple people are involved in the crime and that the barber, who was asked by Deivasigamani to come in the morning, saw him lying outside the house with stab injuries. </p><p>“He might have come out hearing the sound of people who entered the farmhouse. We found the bodies of the mother and son inside the farmhouse,” she said, adding that about eight sovereigns of gold have been stolen from the house. </p><p>“We are probing all angles. We are looking at whether the family had any previous enmity with anyone,” she said. </p>
